The Hanna Instruments HI-761 Total Chlorine Ultra Low Range Checker®HC is a simple, accurate and cost-effective handheld colorimeter for measuring total chlorine at ultra low levels of 0 to 500 ppb with 1 ppb resolution. Designed as a more accurate alternative to chemical test kits, the HI-761 uses a photodiode light source at 525 nm and a silicon photocell detector to deliver professional-grade accuracy in a palm-sized, affordable instrument. The reaction between chlorine and the DPD reagent produces a pink tint in the sample which the Checker®HC measures and displays as a clear digital readout.

The HI-761 uses an adaptation of USEPA method 330.5 and provides quick, accurate results in four easy steps. Its small palm-sized design, single-button operation and built-in timer for timed reaction readings make it straightforward to use in the field, at the poolside or in the laboratory. The auto power-off after 10 minutes of inactivity ensures battery life is preserved. The HI-761 is supplied with two cuvettes and caps, a 6-test reagent starter kit, a battery and instruction manual. Replacement reagents are available as HI-761-25 (25 tests).
